Consulting with The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in executing a successful music rights acquisition strategy that resulted in a historic music licensing deal for CBC Music – as well as advising on marketing, technology, and revenue partnerships.
The goal of CBC Music – to provide an engaging, nation building music experience that meets the needs of the public, helping Canadians find and share the best in emerging and established music.
The Challenge
The challenge was to expedite a project wide progress review – then assist in developing and implementing a project plan with all stakeholders to fast track key tasks to completion.
The Solution
Completely engage all team members in the process of the progress review and provide a clear understanding of the landscape, prepare accordingly, and be ready to react to rapidly changing conditions in the marketplace.
Careful analysis allowed the presentation of reality based solutions and allowed the negotiations to progress quickly in a positive way, allowing the deployment of proposed services and platforms as contemplated.
The Result
At launch, CBC Music was one of the first large scale ventures into online streaming in Canada. The music service is a corner stone of CBC’s online offerings and continues to flourish.
